WEDNESDAY, June 14th, morning As told by Rosemary Brown Western Colorado, USA Ok, I've given Billy his "spit and a polish!" "His bags are packed, he's ready to go..." Peggy and Dana and their two basenjis (Bogie and Katie Rose) are leaving Denver to come west in about an hour in their maroon Subaru, winding up the canyons of 1-70. My husband, Kenn, will leave shortly thereafter in our Jeep to meet up with them. He will be headed south through the White River National Forest and into the Flat Tops Wilderness Area--a beautiful drive through high alpine meadows *full* of pale blue and white wildflowers right at the moment (the columbine and lupine are in bloom), alongside the high crystal lakes--and then down into Glenwood Springs Canyon, red sandstone cliffs with the high mountains behind them. They got off to a good start. Kenn whizzed outta here this morning after we took a picture of all of us in front of the B&B with Billy. |

Kenn and Billy had a nice ride over the Flat Tops and he says he took a photo of Billy standing in a field of larkspur and lupine. |

They arrived in Glenwood only about 15 minutes ahead of Peggy and Dana and had a few minutes to visit and take another photo of Billy before watching them tool off toward the west... |

WEDNESDAY, June 14th, evening Peggy Shifflet, as told to Rosemary Brown Southern Utah, USA Peggy just called from Hurricane (pronounced "Hurrican") Utah, where they are "camped" at a really nice Motel 6. Billy rode well, quietly, she said, and is able to be out in the motel to stretch his legs tonight. He was on the bed with Dana when she called. She said that he has not been at all nervous--nor particularly relaxed enough to play--just quietly taking everything in, a little gentleman. At any rate, all's well in Hurricane! |
